nailing ‘less is more’

Effortlessly nailing the ‘less is more’ or ‘I woke up like this’ look is not without effort after all. But once you nail it, this will become your go-to when you’re a busy bee. Plus, your friends will ask you how on earth you always manage to look so fresh when in reality you’ve only had 4 hours sleep the night before.

Start with your purpose and passion.

Build your outfit according to what’s scheduled into your day. Will you be doing a lot of walking? Ditch the heels. Is it cold outside? Let’s put some pants on. Will I have to schlep around a big bag all day? Let’s make that the focus, and build the rest of your outfit around your perfect base.

When piecing together the rest of the puzzle around your chosen “must” for that day (be it sneakers, large sunnies to hide tired eyes or a hell hot pair of heels – because you can) – keep the rest simple. Stick to neutral colours or just go for black if you’re unsure, and only do the whites if you’re not running around with coffee fix in hand for hours on end, that, my friend – will end up ugly. Been there, done that… Had to throw away the t-shirt.

Lastly, add a bit of feel. If you’re not comfortable in it before heading out the door, chances are that will show, and that is the last thing you want. The way “off duty” models rock their street style looks all the time has a lot to do with their beauty, yes – but it’s also confidence. Own it, baby.
