summer lip colours

I love having fun with make up, and something I’ve started to experiment a little bit more with lately is lips. After being treated to a lunch with the Bobbi Brown Australia team, I was instantly intrigued when I got the chance to try their new Luxe Lips range, a collection of 30 shades that are designed to give full colour, but also keep them nourished and soft.

As Bobbi says, “Lips is an instant way to update your look”, and boy is it true. After a log day at work I was going straight to a function, and there was no room to schlep around a change of clothes. I popped the luxuriously looking ‘Red Velvet’ shade into my bag and hoped for the best. Having never been confident sporting a red lip, let’s just say I was a tad nervous.

The thing that has put me off lipstick are the memories backstage at ballet performances and having bright red and shocking pink shades painted on, instantly leaving me feel like I couldn’t eat or drink anything – or even talk for that matter, because it would ruin the look. Watching girlfriends constantly touching theirs up – though they looked stunning, I was left wondering if it was really worth it.

The Luxe Lip range is different, because of it’s incredibly soft and moisturising formula it feels like wearing more of a cream then a lipstick, without compromising on colour. It truly feels luxurious, and may be half of the reason why it feels like you can instantly change up a look before putting it on.

And who says you have to go for a bright shade? I chose ‘Mod’, a nudey pink that looks just as great during the day as it does at night. ‘Red Velvet’ is a bit of a showstopper, that I have to admit I’m still getting used to. But let’s face it. You can’t be a die-hard Taylor Swift fan and not be able to rock a red lip.
