recipe : the ultimate green smoothie bowl

Oooooh boy.

Who knew that coming back to work after three weeks off would leave you feeling buried, overwhelmed and slightly resentful for not staying away for longer? I guess it was inevitable, but coming back from honeymoon in a tropical country has honestly been a shock to the system, to say the least.

I won’t bore you with the detail, but basically I’ve retracted back to basics when it comes to sleep, nutrition and exercise, in order to manage stress, and ensure I’m on top of my game. Our no-fail, “always works” routine of :

  • at least 8 hours of sleep every night
  • a diet full of vegetables and quality protein
  • a daily hit of probiotics
  • a workout every second day (even if it’s short – do something..!)
  • and a little sunlight every day

.. works wonders. So I thought I would share my go-to breakfast during the week (brunch out on the weekend is a bit of a staple treat for us). This is a simple smoothie bowl that will take you 5 minutes to make in the morning. It’s full of green goodness, probiotics and protein, which will keep you going until lunch time.

You’ll need:

  • bottle of PERKii ‘coconut & lime’
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • handful of kale / spinach
  • 1 lime
  • tablespoon of goji berries
  • protein powder of your choice
  • muesli / nuts of your choice for topping

Method:

  1. Pop the frozen ingredients, the kale / spinach, half a lime and protein powder into the blender
  2. Add bottle of PERKii. You might need to top up with coconut water or water if too thick
  3. Blend! (add more liquid if this isn’t blending)
  4. Pour into a bowl and top with your favourite muesli or roasted nuts
  5. Voila!
